Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) and launched several developmental projects in Mumbai, including the final phase of Mumbai Metro Line-3 and the Mumbai One Integrated Mobility App.
Addressing the gathering, Modi emphasized that India’s development is driven by speed, progress, and public welfare. He highlighted that NMIA, India’s largest Greenfield airport built under a Public–Private Partnership, will eventually handle 90 million passengers and 3.25 million tonnes of cargo annually, boosting trade, investment, and global connectivity. The airport, shaped like a lotus flower, integrates sustainable technologies, including solar power, EV buses, water taxi connectivity, and SAF storage, and will connect Maharashtra’s farmers and MSMEs to international markets.
The Prime Minister also dedicated Phase 2B of Mumbai Metro Line-3, Mumbai’s first fully underground metro, offering 33.5 km of seamless connectivity across 27 stations and catering to 13 lakh daily commuters. He launched Mumbai One, a unified digital ticketing platform integrating multiple transport modes, enhancing efficiency, convenience, and safety for residents.
Modi underlined initiatives like the PM Setu and STEP programs, providing skill training in emerging technologies to youth across ITIs and technical schools, ensuring employment opportunities in sectors like AI, EVs, robotics, and green energy. Highlighting India’s youth, he stressed that infrastructure and connectivity projects, coupled with government schemes, empower citizens, strengthen the economy, and elevate India’s global standing.
