6G New Delhi Declaration by Global Alliances

An unprecedented coalition of leading global 6G alliances and research institutions issued a Joint Statement on October 11, 2025. This statement, titled the 6G New Delhi Declaration, was released at the International Bharat6G Symposium 2025, held alongside the India Mobile Congress 2025. The declaration reaffirms a shared, global commitment to shape the future of 6G. Its core mandate is to establish the next generation of wireless communication as a global public good. The signatory partners committed to collaboration, transparency, and mutual trust to ensure 6G empowers every nation, enterprise, and citizen through accessible and affordable connectivity. This unified step, spearheaded by the Ministry of Communications, marks a major milestone toward building a truly universal and inclusive intelligent network for the future.
Endorsing Five Guiding Principles for 6G by Design
The 6G New Delhi Declaration brings together diverse entities including Bharat 6G, the 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association (6G-IA), ATIS’ Next G Alliance, and 6G Flagship. Together, these organisations endorsed five crucial guiding principles for 6G by Design. These principles aim to guarantee the next generation of connectivity meets essential global standards:
Trusted and Secure
Resilient and Reliable
Open and Interoperable
Inclusive and Affordable
Sustainable and Globally Connected
The declaration specifically underscores the urgent need for trustworthy-by-design networks. This includes incorporating trusted ecosystems, implementing risk mitigation strategies, and building AI-native safeguards across the entire telecom lifecycle. Furthermore, Resilience Engineering and privacy-preserving architectures will be central to ensuring always-on connectivity for billions of users and devices worldwide. The collective endorsement of these principles sets a high bar for the global development of the technology.
A Push for Sustainability and Global Coverage
The joint statement recognises that developing 6G as a global public good requires open, transparent, and inclusive standardisation. It actively promotes open interfaces and multi-vendor interoperability. It also encourages AI-enabled Network orchestration. These steps will accelerate innovation while simultaneously driving affordability globally. The declaration places sustainability squarely at the heart of 6G design. This commitment calls for developing energy-efficient, easily repairable, and recyclable systems. These measures will significantly reduce carbon footprints while ensuring connectivity remains both affordable and accessible.
Finally, the 6G vision includes achieving end-to-end global coverage. This requires the seamless integration of both terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks. This includes satellites, high-altitude platforms, and future space-based systems. This integration will deliver ubiquitous connectivity across land, sea, air, and space. To support this evolving landscape, the declaration emphasises skills development and capacity building. Partner alliances committed to advancing talent pipelines across hardware, software, and network standards. This focus ensures the next generation is prepared to design, deploy, and secure future 6G systems. By anchoring 6G in security, openness, and sustainability, these alliances commit to shaping a network fabric that uplifts societies and accelerates digital economies.
