Vaishnaw inspects Yatri Suvidha Kendra at NDLS

Yatri Suvidha Kendra ND Railway Station

Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw inspected the newly developed Yatri Suvidha Kendra at New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) today. The state-of-the-art facility aims to enhance passenger comfort, especially during the festive season when travel demand surges nationwide.

Designed to accommodate about 7,000 passengers at any given time, the center significantly improves pre-boarding experience and passenger flow. Vaishnaw said the facility reflects Indian Railways’ commitment to offering convenience, safety, and efficiency to every traveler.
He announced that similar Yatri Suvidha Kendras would be developed at other major railway stations across the country. The new Kendra is divided into three zones — Pre-Ticketing, Ticketing, and Post-Ticketing — for smoother passenger movement.
The Ticketing area covers 2,860 sqm, the Post-Ticketing area spans 1,150 sqm, and the Pre-Ticketing section extends across 1,218 sqm. This layout minimizes congestion and enhances overall passenger comfort at the station’s main entrance.

Northern Railway equipped the facility with 22 modern ticket counters and 25 Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) for faster service. Passengers can relax in a 200-seat waiting area, cooled by 18 High Volume Low Speed (HVLS) fans
Sanitation facilities include a 652 sqm toilet block and an RO-based drinking water system. Information systems feature 24 speakers, three LED train display units, and seven advanced fire-fighting systems. Security is ensured through 18 CCTV cameras, five luggage scanners, and five Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMDs).

Northern Railway successfully executed complex construction tasks, including relocating utilities and removing old structures without disrupting station operations. A key infrastructure enhancement, the extension of Foot Over Bridge 1 (FOB 1), now allows passengers to directly exit towards the Metro Station. Shri Vaishnaw was accompanied by Shri Satish Kumar, Chairman and CEO, Railway Board, and Shri Ashok Kumar Verma, General Manager, Northern Railway.

Officials briefed the Minister on the design, construction, and modern features of the facility. The inspection reinforces the Railway Ministry’s focus on modernizing infrastructure and delivering world-class passenger amenities across India.
