Robotics for Good India 2025 challenge draws huge response

The Robotics for Good India 2025 challenge concluded at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025 in New Delhi. This flagship UN-based educational competition is an initiative of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) under its AI for Good program. Co-hosted by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the ITU, the national challenge showcased young innovators developing robotics-based solutions specifically for food security and sustainable development. The event successfully gathered 271 participants from 55 teams across India, underscoring the government’s vision to empower youth in emerging fields like AI and Robotics. Deb Kumar Chakrabarti, Member (Services), DoT, emphasized the goal: “India must be the lead Innovator in AI and Robotics.”
Team Heyansh and Ambitious Avengers Win National Honors
The competition featured two categories, and the winners are set to represent India on the global stage. In the Junior Category, Team Heyansh from Playto Labs, Bengaluru, was declared the National Champion. In the Senior Category, Team – The Ambitious Avengers from Varanasi clinched the title for the second consecutive year.
Both winning teams will now proudly carry India’s flag to the Global Grand Finale in Geneva, Switzerland, in July 2026. The students impressed judges with their immense talent and ingenuity, focusing their robotic designs on complex agricultural and food security challenges. The national event is the official qualifying tournament for the Grand Finale during the AI for Good Global Summit 2026.
Nurturing Responsible Digital Citizens
The success of the Robotics for Good India 2025 challenge highlights the effectiveness of collaboration between international bodies and Indian institutions, including the I-Hub Foundation for Cobotics (IHFC), IIT Delhi. Beyond the competition, the event hosted an important Digital Safety for Youth awareness session.
This session aimed to educate students from eight different states on the ethical use of technology and responsible digital engagement. The initiative underscores the Ministry of Communications’ dual focus: not only nurturing world-class technological innovators but also ensuring they become responsible digital citizens who utilise AI and robotics for advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and serving humanity.
