FASTag Annual Pass Crosses 25 Lakh User Mark

New Delhi — The newly launched FASTag Annual Pass facility has achieved a major milestone, surpassing 25 lakh users and recording approximately 5.67 crore transactions within just two months of its launch on August 15, 2025. This rapid adoption underscores the success of the initiative in enhancing the ‘Ease of Commuting’ for Indian highway users.
The pass, introduced by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), provides a highly economical and seamless travel option, applicable at around 1,150 toll plazas on National Highways (NH) and National Expressways (NE) across the country.
Initiative by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH): The FASTag Annual Pass scheme is a significant initiative of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), implemented by the NHAI. Announced by the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, this pre-paid toll solution is aligned with the Government’s vision to encourage the use of technology, streamline the electronic toll collection system, and enhance the ‘Ease of Living’ for private vehicle commuters by offering a cost-effective, time-saving alternative to per-trip toll payments.
Key Features and Benefits Driving Adoption:
Cost-Effective Travel: The Annual Pass, available for a one-time fee of ₹3,000, is valid for one year or up to 200 toll plaza crossings, whichever comes first. This fixed-fee model offers substantial savings for frequent non-commercial vehicle commuters (cars, jeeps, and vans).
Hassle-Free Experience: It eliminates the need for users to frequently recharge their FASTag account, ensuring uninterrupted movement at toll gates.
Quick Activation: The pass is activated on the vehicle’s existing valid FASTag typically within two hours of payment made via the Rajmargyatra App or the official NHAI website.
Widespread Acceptance: The pass’s applicability across a wide network of national toll plazas is key to its popularity. (Note: For State Highways and local body tolls, the existing FASTag wallet balance is used).
The overwhelming response to the FASTag Annual Pass highlights the commitment of the Ministry of Communications and Rural Development to leverage digital technology for a safe, smooth, and seamless travel experience across India’s growing national road network.
