India showcases green Hydrogen mission at World Hydrogen Summit 2024

For the first time, India set up its own pavilion at the World Hydrogen Summit 2024 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, from May 13-15. The pavilion, inaugurated by Shri Bhupinder S. Bhalla, Secretary of the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, highlights India’s progress in green hydrogen.
The Summit, a key event in the global green hydrogen ecosystem, expects around 15,000 delegates. The Indian delegation includes representatives from various ministries and private sector companies, facilitating global engagement.
India launched its National Green Hydrogen Mission in January 2023, with a goal to achieve 5 MMT of green hydrogen production capacity by 2030. The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy has already awarded tenders for 412,000 tonnes of green hydrogen production and 1,500 MW of electrolyzer manufacturing.
The mission promotes green hydrogen use in steel, transport, and shipping sectors. The Department of Science and Technology’s Hydrogen Valley Innovation Clusters further foster innovation. A dedicated portal provides comprehensive information on the mission and developments in India’s green hydrogen ecosystem.
