CII urges industry to limit physical presence of their employees at workplaces

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has fully opposed physical presence of the employees of the organisations dealing in non-essential economic activities, at their workplaces at least for the next two weeks. Uday Kotak, President, CII said it was necessary to break the chain of COVID-19 transmission. In his opinion, the Indian industries should review their operations and limit the use of in-person manpower to only critical operations, or the activities requiring to control the law and order situation. At the same time, he has advised the corporate sector to ensure their employees remain healthy.

In the current accelerating pandemic situation, it is urgent to take measures to break the chain of transmission, CII has informed. Various auto majors, such as Hero MotoCorp, Maruti Suzuki, JCB India, Scooter India and Honda Motocycle have already halted their production temporarily in the interest of the safely of their employees. CII has also urged the corporate to expedite vaccination of their employees and, when the availability of the vaccines improves, extend their support in vaccination drives to neighbouring communities as part of their CSR initiatives.
