In last seven years India has successfully recorded 572 per cent growth in grant of Patents. As informed by Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, informed, “In 2020-21 over 28,391 patents granted in comparison to 4,227 patents granted in 2013-14.” He said that technology and ideas are twin engines of growth.
Goyal was speaking at a virtual event in New Delhi, where he was conferred National Intellectual Property Awards. He said there is a need to bring Intellectual Property revolution while strengthening Intellectual Property Rights laws at the same time, for inclusive progress of nation and to boost quality, job creation, manufacturing and competitiveness.
