FPI ministry committed for early completion of 19 Mega Food Parks

Ministry of Food Processing Industries has informed that currently 19 mega food parks in the country are under various completion stages. Pashupati Kumar Paras, Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, said this scheme has the primary objective of providing modern infrastructure facilities for food processing together with the farm to market value chain.

Out of the 38 Mega Food Parks which have been accorded approval, 22 Mega Food Parks projects have already been made functional. Paras informed that he would be conducting an on the spot assessment of Mega Food Park located at Mansi in Khagaria district in Bihar. He would also meet industry minister Shahnawaz Hussain to evaluate the progress of mega food park at Motipur block in Muzaffarpur.

Paras informed that the food parks in this region will help farmers grow Banana, Litchi, Makhana, Maize and Potato besides providing employment opportunities to the people, especially the women and youth.

In the just concluded session of the Parliament, National Institutes of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management Bill 2021 has been passed and notified. Paras said, Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology Thanjabur in Tamil Nadu and National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management Kundali have turned out to be Institutions of National Importance.
