Blue Dart Express has signed a memorandum of understanding with India Post to extend parcel delivery services to more locations across India. The partnership aims to improve last-mile connectivity for businesses and customers in tier-III and tier-IV towns, as well as remote areas.
The agreement will combine the logistics capabilities of both organisations. It will also use their existing infrastructure to expand market coverage. Blue Dart said the additional coverage would be rolled out in phases.
The arrangement builds on the longstanding relationship between the two organisations. It also seeks to address delivery requirements in markets where reaching customers can be difficult. India Post’s extensive postal network will help Blue Dart serve additional locations.
For small and medium enterprises, e-commerce sellers and larger businesses, access to reliable delivery services is important for market expansion. Smaller towns are creating opportunities as customers seek greater product choice. Businesses need dependable logistics networks to serve this demand.
Dipanjan Banerjee, Chief Commercial Officer at Blue Dart, said expanding access to these markets could help businesses reach more customers.
“Across Bharat’s smaller towns, demand for greater product choice creates opportunities that businesses need dependable logistics to realise,” Banerjee said.
The partnership also reflects the changing role of parcel delivery in supporting commerce beyond major urban centres. Wider delivery coverage can help businesses serve customers outside their established markets. However, the expansion will take place in phases, according to Blue Dart.
Harpreet Singh, Member (Operations) at the Department of Posts, said the agreement was announced on World Post Day. He highlighted India Post’s last-mile reach and its commitment to supporting the partnership.
“The Department of Posts is committed to this partnership and looks forward to it. The Department has strong last-mile connectivity, and we will offer all possible support to make this partnership stronger. We look forward to a much broader and constantly evolving partnership ahead,” Singh said.
Balfour Manuel, Managing Director of Blue Dart, said the partnership would support parcel delivery as the economy expands and customer expectations change.
“As the economy expands and customer expectations evolve, this strategic partnership has an important role to play in strengthening parcel delivery,” Manuel said.
The Blue Dart India Post partnership brings together two complementary delivery networks. Its impact will depend on how effectively the organisations extend coverage and serve new markets. The phased rollout will determine how quickly businesses and customers in smaller towns and remote locations benefit from the expanded reach.
