Armed Forces Medical Services and IIT Delhi collaborate for research and training

The Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on April 22, 2024, for collaborative research and training. The MoU, signed by Director General Armed Forces Medical Services Lt Gen Daljit Singh and Director IIT Delhi Prof Rangan Banerjee, aims to focus on developing novel medical devices and addressing health issues specific to serving soldiers in diverse terrains.

IIT Delhi’s strong biomedical research ecosystem provides the technical expertise necessary for research into the various medical challenges faced by the Armed Forces, including the rehabilitation of amputees. The MoU includes plans for a faculty exchange program, joint academic activities, and the development of joint PhD programs.

Lt Gen Daljit Singh, DGAFMS, highlighted AFMS’s commitment to providing the highest level of medical care to soldiers, emphasizing that collaboration with institutes of national importance like IIT is a significant step toward fulfilling this commitment. Prof Rangan Banerjee, Director IIT Delhi, expressed optimism about the potential of this MoU for research and training that will benefit the nation and the Armed Forces.
