Assam Govt Secures 60-Year Land Lease in Mumbai’s Colaba

The Mumbai Port Authority has officially leased the land to Assam for a period of 60 years. This landmark decision is poised to create a permanent and valuable asset for the state, establishing a crucial foothold in the country’s financial capital.
The minister described the initiative as a transformative step for Assam’s economy. He highlighted its potential to enhance connectivity and promote trade and tourism. “This is a historic day for Assam. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are securing a strategic asset that will open new avenues for growth, Sonowal stated. “Our presence in Mumbai will empower Assam’s businesses, showcase our rich culture, and foster greater economic integration for the entire North-East region,” .
The leased land is expected to be developed to house a guest house, a commercial complex, and other facilities. These will serve as a gateway for Assam in Mumbai. Also, the developed facility will provide a direct platform to promote the state’s products, culture, and tourism to a national and international audience, driving investment and creating long-term revenue streams.
This development underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring the progress of the North-East is aligned with the nation’s overall economic momentum.
