Defence Acquisition Council to procure indigenous weapons and equipment for armed forces

Giving a boost to Atma Nirbhar Bharat and Make In India initiatives the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) has approved proposals for procurement of defence equipments from domestic industry. In a meeting presided over by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, DAC gave its nod to capital acquisition proposals of several equipment, platforms, weapons as well as systems for the armed forces including the Army, Navy and Air Force at overall cost of approx. Rs. 28,000 crore.

The proposals also include Airborne Early Warning and Control Systems for Indian Air Force, Modular Bridges for Indian Army as well as Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels for Indian Navy, among others. All these weapons are designed and developed by DRDO.
