Exports of engineering goods in India registered 52.4% growth last month

Exhibiting a positive growth, merchandise exports in the month of June 2021 registered a commendable 52.4% growth in comparison to the same period last year. Engineering exports rose to USD 8903.5 million in June 2021 which was USD 6274.9 Million in the same month last year.

Among the exported products included the products of Copper, Iron & steel, Tin, Lead, Two-Three wheelers, Industrial Machinery for food processing, textiles, dairy, IC engines and Auto components to name a few. In the panel segment as well the total exports rose to USD 19.85 Million in April-June 2021 in comparison to USD 13.72 Billion in the same period in 2019.

The automobile sector which includes motor vehicles, cars, two-three wheelers and auto components registered 1.7% growth in the first quarter of the current financial year in comparison to 2019-2020 in the same period. If we compare the growth in exports in first quarter of 2020-21 to the growth in exports in the current year it is 195%. This sharp jump in exports is due to growth in the exports of two-three wheelers, cars and auto components.
