FICCI-KPMG India report suggests the need of more ramped up efforts towards strengthening healthcare systems

FICCI and KPMG India have together released a report, “COVID-19 Induced Healthcare Transformation in India” which highlights that the crisis has improved the adoption of digital healthcare systems across the globe. It has also revealed that the pandemic has opened a floodgate of opportunities for the country to move towards robust healthcare system as the healthcare sector is the backbone of any country.

The report dives deep into the technological interventions coupled with major disruptors triggered by the pandemic which expedited the approach towards accessible, equitable as well as more affordable healthcare system.

The report has listed six thematic areas requiring immediate deliberation and it gives recommendations that are actionable. This is in view of the need for greater investment for enhancing health outcomes with strategic diversion of funds for sustaining these outcomes.

Dr Alok Roy, Chairman, Medica Group of Hospitals and Chair, FICCI Health Services Committee said COVID-19 pandemic reinforced an urgent need to make greater investments in augmenting health preparedness and quality of care.”

Lalit Mistry, Partner and Co-Head – Healthcare Sector, KPMG in India added that it will be important to shift the focus towards the quality of implementation of the new programs and schemes.
