Gadkari optimistic towards GST helping in achieving five trillion dollar Indian economy

Nitin Gadkari, the minister for MSME, road transport and highways has opined that by 2025, GST will help in achieving the vision of 5 trillion dollar Indian economy. He was addressing a webinar on GST Day organized by Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI). The theme of the event was: The Journey of GST and Way Forward.

Gadkari said during the four years of the implementation of GST a remarkable change is visible. He said the change is seen in the way business is being executed and that the digitalization and information technology have to play an important role. He added that performance audit together with financial audit is important for time bound and transparent decision making process.

He said even though GST has completed four years but still room for improvement is there and for this purpose communication, coordination, rectification and cooperation is required from all the stakeholders.
Deliberating on the occasion Gadkari complimented the ICAI for conducting seminars and regular webinars together with various courses for the stakeholders across the country with aim to relearn and unlearn new subjects which are needed to survive in the new normal.
