Global Maritime India Summit 2023 attracts investments worth Rs 10 lakh crore

The Global Maritime India Summit 2023, one of the world’s largest maritime gatherings recently held in Mumbai. , Achieving ‘Amrit Kaal Vision 2047’ milestone, the event marked a resounding success with 360 MoUs signed, pledging investments of Rs 8.35 lakh crores. Additionally, the summit unveiled investible projects worth Rs 1.68 lakh crores, demonstrating India’s increasing allure for investment.

During a post-event press statement, the Ministry announced that the summit had garnered investment proposals totaling Rs 10 lakh crores in just three days, a significant step towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Amrit Kaal Vision 2047,’ aiming for a massive Rs 80 trillion investment in the maritime sector by 2047.

At the valedictory session of GMIS 2023, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal, applauded the summit’s achievements, saying, “The Global Maritime India Summit, 2023 has made a wonderful beginning by securing an investment commitment of more than Rs 10 lakh crores.” He emphasized the importance of the ‘Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision, 2047’ as a comprehensive roadmap for the sector’s development, emphasizing its time-bound implementation across multiple areas.

Expressing gratitude to the participant nations, Sonowal extended thanks to the ten partner countries, over fifty partner countries, and all the stakeholders and delegates who collaborated on various identified areas during the summit, fostering future-proof solutions.

During the valedictory session, Union Minister Piyush Goyal, the guest of honor, commended the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways for its efforts in enhancing India’s EXIM trade capacity. He highlighted that India achieved more than $450 billion in trade in 2022-23, attributing this success to the ministry’s initiatives.

GMIS 2023 was a global spectacle, attracting participation from numerous countries, featuring 215 international and national speakers, and hosting over 50,000 physical and virtual attendees. Building upon the legacy of previous editions, this third installment unveiled promising opportunities for both domestic and international maritime stakeholders.
