Government clears 50 national highway projects for Manipur
The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has approved 50 new national highway projects, spanning 1,026 km in the state of Manipur. Of these, 44 projects, covering 902 km, are situated in the hilly regions of the state. So far, 8 projects totaling 125 km have been completed, while 36 projects, with an investment of ₹12,000 crore and a total length of 777 km, are currently under construction.
As part of the Ministry’s Annual Plan for 2024-25, two additional national highway projects have been sanctioned in the hilly regions of Manipur. These projects, valued at ₹1,350 crore, will cover a combined length of 90 km.
Under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), the Ministry has also approved work on state roads, as prioritized by the Manipur government. Of the 111 projects on the state’s priority list, 57 have received approval, based on the BoS ratio. The current BoS ratio for Manipur stands at 9.81, compared to the permissible ratio of 4 for hilly states.
This approval highlights the government’s continued focus on strengthening connectivity and infrastructure in the region.
