Home ministry approves Rs 1751 crore disaster relief fund for five states

Under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, a high-level committee has approved Rs. 1,751.05 crore additional fund from National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) for five states: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana—which were affected by floods and landslides in 2020.

This NDRF fund has also been approved for any of these states affected from hailstorm during the time of Rabi crop in 2019-20. Amit Shah said this additional central assistance is to help the people in these states who braved natural disasters.

The central government had already deputed Inter-Ministerial Central Teams across all these five states. The Centre has approved Rs 15.86 crore to Arunachal Prades, Rs 437.15 crore to Assam, Rs 386.06 crore to Uttar Pradesh and Rs 245.96 crore to Telangana. It has also approved Rs 285.08 crore to Uttar Pradesh for the damages made by the hailstorm to the Rabi crops during 2019-20.
