An increase of almost 18.5 per cent has been witnessed in agricultural as well as allied commodities export from April 2020 to February 2021 in comparison to a similar period last year. The country has witnessed tremendous 727 per cent growth in the export of wheat and 132 per cent growth in the export of non-basmati rice. Some other commodities like cereals, spices, raw cotton, soya meal and fresh vegetable also saw significant growth in export.
Total sales in this segment has been aroud Rs 2 lakh and 70000 crore. Even the imports during this period has recorded some growth. The imports of Agricultural and allied commodities during this period witnessed a slight increase of 2.93 per cent. During this period, despite COVID-19, the balance of trade in agriculture has favourably increased.
