India poised to become energy exporting nation in six to seven years: Gadkari

At a business forum held recently in national capital, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said India is steadily progressing towards becoming a net exporter of energy within the next six to seven years.
He noted that India’s growing emphasis on alternative fuels is reshaping its energy landscape. From ethanol and biodiesel to electric vehicles and hydrogen technologies, the country is actively reducing its dependence on imported energy and building capacity for future exports.
He said, “Hydrogen is the fuel of tomorrow” with adding, “the way India is adopting clean and green energy solutions, I’m confident we’ll transition from an energy importer to an energy exporter in the next few years.”
The minister also highlighted the economic benefits of this transition, particularly in reducing logistics costs. He shared that India’s logistics expenses, which previously stood at 16 percent of GDP, have already dropped by 6 percent. The government’s target is to lower this to 9 percent by year-end, bringing it closer to global benchmarks.
Gadkari appealed to industries and businesses to prioritise cleaner fuels, stressing that this shift is both financially viable and essential for the nation’s growth.
