MoS Rajeev Chandrasekhar launches Semicon India Future Design Roadshow

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, MoS, Electronics and Information Technology inaugurated Semicon India Future Design Roadshow at IIT Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion, Chandrasekhar highlighted the government’s commitment to develop a vibrant semiconductor industry in the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier announced Rs 76000 crore investment outlay for this sector.

A series of measures have been implemented by the government to strengthen the semiconductor sector. Among that the establishment of Indian Semiconductor Research Center (ISRC) has been one notable initiative. To conduct cutting-edge research in this segment ISRC collaborates with renowned institutions lik IIITs.

According to Chandrasekhar, the transformative impact of the digital economy, encompasses a broad range of technologies such as AI, Deep Tech, Semiconductors and Space. The government looks to join hands with with industry, academia and startups to shift the country to a producer of technology from being being a consumer of technology. This target is inline with the government’s aim to achieve $1 trillion digital economy.

The event witnessed eminent global semiconductor leaders comprising Dr. Vivek Lall, Chief Executive of General Atomic, and Hidetoshi Shibata, President and CEO of Renesas Technology, among others. Several dignitaries graced the event. In line with the objective of the roadshow, future DESIGN startup was approved .
