New flight routes connecting Gwalior to Bengaluru, Delhi, and Ayodhya inaugurated

Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya M Scindia inaugurated new flight routes connecting Gwalior to Bengaluru, Delhi, and Ayodhya. These new routes now offer daily flights connecting Ayodhya, Gwalior, Bangalore, and Delhi. During the inauguration, Minister Scindia announced that the construction of the new Gwalior terminal, valued at Rs. 500 crore, is on track for completion within the next few days. The Minister highlighted the increased connectivity for Gwalior, which is now linked to six cities: Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Ayodhya, with 33 weekly flight movements. Minister Scindia further announced plans for a new terminal building in Gwalior, a project worth Rs. 500 crore, which is set to be completed in a record time of 16 months. He described the airport as a blend of modernity and antiquity, showcasing the history, culture, civilization, and local ethos of Gwalior.

The new terminal, spanning 2 lakh square feet, aims to meet the region’s future demands and boost connectivity and economic growth. Highlighting the development of Madhya Pradesh’s aviation sector, Minister Scindia noted that before 2014, the state had air connectivity with only 13 cities, which has now increased to 31. Additionally, the state has established international connections with Dubai and Sharjah. Aircraft movements have also seen a significant rise, from 540 per week before 2014 to over 1000 currently.

 

The government is investing in infrastructure projects, including a new terminal at Jabalpur, the development of Rewa airport for ATR aircraft, a new airport in Datia, and a new airfield in Satna. The state has also established three new Flying Training Organizations, including Asia’s first Helicopter training institute in Khajuraho, bringing the total number of FTOs in Madhya Pradesh to six. Minister of State–Civil Aviation, Road Transport, and Highways, V.K. Singh , emphasized the government’s commitment to making air travel more accessible and convenient. He believes that these new connections will not only facilitate travel but also contribute to the overall development of these regions.
