NHAI awards Rs 47,289 crore worth road projects in first half of FY 2020-21

Despite the coronavirus outbreak, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has been successful in awarding 60% more length of projects in comparison to the last year from April to September 2020. It has successfully awarded the highest length of projects in the last three years. Altogether it has awarded 40 projects of the combined total length of 1330 km amounting to Rs 47,289 crore which include cost of land acquisition, pre-construction activities and civil work.
The Authority has in the NHAI statement revealed that the projects so far awarded in the first half of the current FY are 1.6 times higher than that of awarded in FY 2019-20 while 3.5 times higher than the length of projects awarded in FY2018-19 in the same period. The authority has informed that it has so far completed over 80-90 percent of land acquisition and has also obtained the clearances required from the different environment and forest authorities. It aims to award a total of 4500 km of projects during the current financial year.
