NHAI revises toll rates nationwide, increases charges by 4-5%

Road commuters across India will face higher toll charges as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has implemented a toll fee increase of 4-5% across national highways and expressways, effective from April 1, 2025.

According to a senior official from the Ministry of Highways, the toll revision is an annual exercise linked to changes in the Wholesale Price Index (WPI)-based inflation. The updated rates apply to around 855 user fee plazas nationwide, including 675 public-funded toll plazas and 180 operated by concessionaires.

NHAI issues toll rate adjustments separately for each highway and expressway. The latest hike will impact key routes, including the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, and the Delhi-Jaipur Highway, among others.

The annual toll adjustment is in accordance with the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008. Commuters can check the revised charges at respective toll plazas or through NHAI’s official notifications.

With this revision, highway users are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, as the increased fees will now be applicable across multiple highway corridors.
