NLC India contributes Rs. 4.30 crore to CM relief fund

Tamil Nadu NLC India Ltd, under the Ministry of Coal, has contributed Rs. 4.30 crore to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund. This contribution includes Rs. 2.30 crores, equivalent to one day’s salary from NLC India’s employees. The assistance aims to aid the recovery of people affected by the recent flood caused by Cyclone Michaung, which devastated Chennai and the surrounding districts of Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, and Chengalpattu. Additionally, it seeks to help those affected by the unprecedented heavy rain in the southern districts of Tuticorin and Tirunelveli.

Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLC India, presented a cheque for Rs. 4.30 crore to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin, at the Tamil Nadu Government Secretariat.The handover took place in the presence of Chief Secretary fShiv Das Meena. In a previous effort, NLC India deployed 18 giant 25 HP water pumps, along with engineers and technicians, from December 5th to 15th.

This deployment successfully cleared inundations at crucial locations and removed 51,20,000 cubic feet of water from flood-affected areas. Currently, NLC India has deployed 12 similar 25 HP pumps in Tuticorin district to alleviate the suffering caused by incessant rain. Furthermore, NLC India is providing drinking water supply from the RO plant of its Joint Venture Power Plant, NTPL, in Tuticorin to aid those in flood-affected areas.
