Noida International Airport in Jewar will begin commercial operations next month with IndiGo becoming the launch carrier for the greenfield airport in western Uttar Pradesh.
The airline announced that the first Noida Airport flights will start from June 15. IndiGo will operate inaugural services connecting Lucknow and Bengaluru through Noida.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the airport on March 28. The airport is the third commercial airport in the National Capital Region after Delhi and Ghaziabad’s Hindon airport.
Noida Airport flights to connect major cities
IndiGo said the inaugural schedule will operate on the Lucknow-Noida-Bengaluru-Noida-Lucknow route. Flight 6E 2278 will depart from Lucknow at 7.05 am and arrive in Noida at 8.05 am. The aircraft will then depart for Bengaluru at 8.35 am and land there at 11.05 am.
The return service, flight 6E 2279, will leave Bengaluru at 3.45 pm. It will reach Noida at 6.20 pm before departing for Lucknow at 6.55 pm. The flight will land in Lucknow at 8 pm.
The launch of Noida Airport flights is expected to improve regional air connectivity and reduce passenger load at Delhi airport. The new airport is also likely to strengthen connectivity across western Uttar Pradesh and nearby NCR regions.
IndiGo plans wider expansion from Jewar
IndiGo said it will gradually expand operations from the airport over the coming months. The airline plans to connect the airport with more than 16 destinations across the country.
These destinations will include metro cities such as Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The airline will also connect tier-2 and tier-3 cities including Amritsar, Chandigarh, Dharamsala, Jaipur, Lucknow, Navi Mumbai, Pantnagar and Srinagar.
The airline has started opening bookings in phases through its website, mobile application and authorised travel partners.
Airport expected to boost regional growth
Industry observers believe the launch of Noida Airport flights could support economic activity and infrastructure growth in the region. Improved air connectivity often encourages commercial development, logistics activity and real estate expansion around emerging airport corridors.
The Jewar airport project has already attracted strong interest from developers and businesses in nearby areas. Experts believe the airport could gradually emerge as a major aviation and economic hub in northern India.
