Kolkata / New Delhi: Marking a historic milestone in India’s indigenous defense manufacturing journey, Prime Minister Narendra Modi simultaneously commissioned three major warships into the Indian Navy at Kolkata.
The simultaneous commissioning of three complex surface combatants designed and constructed by a single shipyard is a first for India. The mega naval event unfolded in the presence of West Bengal Governor R N Ravi, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, and Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Krishna Swaminathan.
The trio of frontline vessels—INS Dunagiri, INS Sanshodhak, and INS Agray—underscores the rapidly expanding capabilities of Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) under the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
