Power Minister inaugurates public EV charging plaza in Delhi

With an aim to enhance energy efficiency and promote e-mobility, Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy R.K. Singh inaugurated public Electrical Vehicle (EV) charging plaza at Chelmsford Club, New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “Charging plaza has been launched to promote the creation of a robust e-mobility ecosystem in the country.”

Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), the energy service company of Government Of India, has in collaboration with New Delhi Municipal Council (NDBC) launched this EV Charging Plaza situated in Central Delhi.  It will host five EV chargers of different specifications. The move is also aimed at spurring e-mobility adoption in the country, as it will make EV charging convenient for consumers. EESL is known for leading the ecosystem development for EVs in India.  It’s also identifying business models for Public Charging Station (PCS) besides undertaking demand accretion for procuring electrical vehicles.

The minister also launched retrofit of air-conditioning and ventilation systems developed in partnership with the MAITREE program of US Agency for International Development (USAID). The programme focuses on improving energy efficiency, and indoor air quality thermal comfort in the air conditioning systems.
