The Uttar Pradesh Government on Friday directed officials to ensure that the commercial operations of Noida International Airport begin by December this year. State Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra issued these instructions following a review meeting with concerned officials and a physical inspection of the airport site in the Jewar area of Gautam Buddh Nagar.
The first of the four phases of the project is currently under development, with the installation of an automated baggage handling system also progressing. During the meeting, Christoph Schnellmann, CEO of Noida Airport and YIAPL, COO Kiran Jain, CEO of Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) Arun Vir Singh, and the project’s nodal officer Shailendra Bhatia, among others, updated Mishra on the project’s progress.
The discussions also covered issues related to security, communications, navigation, and surveillance systems for air traffic management, involving officials from respective central agencies, including the DGCA (aviation regulator).
Chief Secretary Mishra emphasized the importance of meeting all departmental requirements and regulations, instructing the concessionaire to resolve any issues by September. Additionally, Mishra instructed YIAPL to present a catch-up plan by July 15 after a meeting with representatives of Tata Projects, according to the statement.
