IPFT develops disinfectants sprays for surface, vegetables and fruits

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic creating global havoc, the Institute of Pesticide Formulation Technology (IPFT) of the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers has developed two different disinfectant sprays for surface application as well as for fruits and vegetables.
According to the IPFT, its spray for surface application is alcohol-based and the formulation evaporates after disinfecting the surfaces. While its disinfectant for vegetables and fruits is water-based and vegetables and fruits are required to be soaked in it for 15-20 minutes for disinfection and to make them pesticide-free. Established in May 1991 IPFT is based in Gurugram, Haryana and is an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers. The institution is working for the development of safer and environmentally-friendly pesticide formulations.
