
New Delhi: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has approved 31 additional applications under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS).
Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw officially handed over approval letters to successful applicants at a ceremony in New Delhi. Crucially, these new approvals carry projected capital investments of ₹7,877 crore and will create over 9,500 direct employment opportunities.

Surpassing Capital Targets Across Ten States
Significantly, the project proposals span ten individual states across the country. Tamil Nadu leads the new allocation with seven approved projects, while Maharashtra and Haryana secured six projects each.
The approved applications focus on specialized hardware manufacturing, including acetylene black, speakers, microphones, optical transceivers, capacitors, and coils.

Although the government initially set a target to attract ₹59,000 crore in investments, cumulative commitments under the ECMS have now crossed ₹69,000 crore. Consequently, this rapid expansion strengthens domestic supply chains, reduces import reliance, and accelerates India’s positioning as a global electronics manufacturing hub.
