ANAROCK’s Consumer Sentiment Survey reveals more women buying properties

The women have emerged as a key homebuyer segment as per a recent ANAROCK consumer sentiment survey in which 83% women respondents have been looking at homes priced above INR 45 lakh. As per this survey, Rs 45 – 90 lakh budget range for buying house is the sweet spot for 36% of women and 27% prefer to buy premium homes priced between Rs 90 lakh to 1.5 Cr.

 According to Santhosh Kumar, Vice Chairman, ANAROCK Group, the preferences of women have been shaping new trends and that they exactly know what they want. The report further reveals that now more women are buying property for investment.

To empower women from the lower-income segments, it has been made a provision to for availing homes under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) introduced in 2015 that these homes have to be registered mandatorily in a woman’s name or if not than a woman must be a co-owner.

Further for a property registered in a women’s name the homeowner has to give lower stamp duty. States including UP, Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana offer such a relaxation in stamp duty for women buyers.
