Arunachal Pradesh gets its third operational airport: Donyi Polo Airport, Itanagar

Arunachal Pradesh’s capital Itanagar’s new Greenfield Airport at Hollongi has been named as “Donyi Polo Airport, Itanagar”.

The Union Cabinet has given its approval on this name for this airport being developed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). with assistance from the Central Government and the State Government of Arunachal Pradesh=are assisting AAI in this.

The name ‘Donyi Polo Airport, Itanagar’, reflects the people’s reverence of the Donyi which means Sun and the Polo meaning Moon. Together they symbolise the rich cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh.

Presently Tezu and Passighat are the two airports operational in the state and the Donyi Polo Airport is going to become its third operational airport.

A long pending demand of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, the Holongi Greenfield airport at Itanagar has been fulfilled finally with this announcement.
