NTPC joins hands with Tecnimont for Green Methanol Production
India’s largest power generation company, NTPC and Tecnimont Private Limited, the Indian subsidiary of the Maire Tecnimont Group of Italy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly explore the possibility of Green Menthanol Production at NTPC projects in India.
The Green Methanol is produced by capturing carbon from the power plants of NTPC and then converting it into a green fuel. It’s all set to emerge as a promising project of green fuel it involves
Other than fuel the Green Methanol has several other applications. For example the Green Methanol also serves as a base material for the chemical industry. It also act as a base material to store renewable electricity apart from being a transportation fuel. It’s also known as a substitute fuel for the fuel application for maritime.
“The Green Methanol Production project will significantly contribute to India’s energy transition,” said C.K Mondal, Director (Commercial), NTPC.  He added that the project is in line with NTPC’s commitment to renewable energy and sustainability.
