Coal Ministry promoting mine tourism on reclaimed land across the country
The Coal Ministry is engaged in promoting mine tourism through developing eight Eco-Parks on reclaimed land in different parts of the country. Further, it’s all set to complete two more such parks in 2022-23. Recently Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs minister Pralhad Joshi inaugurated Jhurey/Bal Gangadhar Tilak Eco-Park of Western Coalfields Limited’s (WCL).
With aim to promote eco-tourism and showcase sustainable mining activities, Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) and Pondicherry Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) have signed an MoU at Mine-I and Mine-II.
NCL has signed another MoU with Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board for the enhancement of Singrauli Eco-Tourism Circuit while WCL has signed an MoU with Directorate of Tourism, Maharashtra to promote Eco-tourism. Moreover, beginning from January the PSUs of Coal/Lignite have also planted around 47 lakh saplings on 2300 Hactare land upto November this year.
