BSNL, Skylotech India to launch world’s first satellite-based Narrow Band- IoT network

Government owned, teleco BSNL has joined hands with global machines solutions connectivity company Skylotech India to launch the world’s first satellite-based Narrow Band-IoT (Internet of Things) in India. It is through this India will be now capable of accessing a seamless connectivity for unconnected sensors and machines besides industrial IoT devices through the satellite-ground infrastructure of BSNL.

Indigenously developed by Skylo, the solution will provide PAN-India coverage together with Indian seas. It will not leave any dark patch within Indian boundary including the Indian seas.

According to P.K. Purwar, CMD, BSNL, the solution represents BSNL’s vision of leveraging technology for providing innovative telecom products and services across customer segments.”

CEO and Co-founder of Skylo India, Parthsarthi Trivedi said, “Industries, including, fisheries, agriculture, railways have been operating offline and have not yet explored the opportunity to gain full advantage of the latest progress in AI&IoT.”

It’ a timely announcement as currently Indian Mobile Congress 2020 is going on. The new technology is in accordance with NITI Aaayog’s plan of bringing indigenously developed IoT connectivity to the core sectors of India.

The Skylo User Terminal, a small, but smart and incredibly rugged box, transmits data and after interfacing with sensors. It transmits data to Skylo Network in the hands of the public. Its data platform provides visual and an immersive experience for industry specific application on desktop or mobile. The users are provided with the ability to take appropriate and immediate action from everywhere. It will serve as a wi-fi network and complement smartphone centric mobile and wi-fi network. It covers India’s complete geography and it will bring online new application for the first time.
