Consultation paper on introduction of digital connectivity infrastructure released by TRAI

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has come out with Consultation Paper on Introduction of Digital Connectivity Infrastructure Provider Authorization under Unified License (UL). Digital infrastructure and services are emerging increasingly as critical determinants of  a country’s growth as well-being and key enablers.

Significantly contributing to economic development, a robust Digital Connectivity Infrastructure (DCI) provides amenities for enhancing the quality of life besides playing a vital role in the successful implementation of various Government schemes under Make in India, Digital India, Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission as well as Smart Cities development. TRAI has recently received a reference from DoT seeking recommendations for a new category of license: ‘Telecom Infrastructure License (TIL)”, with terms and conditions and applicable license fee etc under section 11(1) (a) of  TRAI Act 1997.

With the purpose to seek views of stakeholders on the proposed DCIP authorization under Unified License, the consultation paper is available on the website: www.trai.gov.in.
