FASTag made Toll Collection grow 46% in 2022

Over the last few years, Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) through FASTag has witnessed constant growth. In December 2022, the average daily toll collection through FASTag on NH fee plazas was Rs 134.44 crore. It was on 24th December 2022 that the single day highest collection reached Rs 144.19 crore. The collection in comparison to 2021, has registered over 48% growth in 2022.

Over 6.4 crores FASTags have been issued as on date. FASTag enabled fee plazas have grown to 1,181 all across the country in 2022 from 922 in 2021. Not only this, but MoUs have been signed with 29 different state authorities for the on-boarding of state fee plazas under the FASTag program and some of these states include Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka and Telangana.

FASTag has emerged as a means of reducing the waiting time at NH fee plazas which results in bringing more efficiency in toll operations. Another important benefit of this facility is that the road assets have been enabled with correct valuations due to the deployment of ETC system. It has also brought transparency in the system. Due to this more investors are being attracted to invest in the country’s highway infrastructure.
