FICCI organises roundtable on COVID- 19 containment strategies

Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) organised a roundtable on COVID-19 containment strategies and challenges across the country. The roundtable attended by public health experts and various stakeholders of healthcare industry outlined that continued investment in strengthening public healthcare systems has helped the proactive governments in testing and control of the transmission up to some extent.

FICCI President, Dr. Sangita Reddy said that extensive testing is required and that increased focus on strengthening the public health infrastructure at the primary level is urgent. In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it is essential for all the states to focus on preventive care at the local level and increase their testing capacity. RT-PCR should be made essential for all symptomatic patients so that the spread of infection can be controlled. The experts also called for the urgent need of the vaccine, but simultaneously they also opined that it is required to spread awareness and the society needs to learn to live with Corona as it’s the new normal just like any other contagious diseases. It was also highlighted that all localities, societies, and RWAs should create isolation centres with well-ventilated rooms.
