Madhya Pradesh reopens tourism sector in unlock 1

In a major relief from lockdown, the Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation has decided to reopen its tourism destinations for public from 15th June. In the wake of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, itโ€™s sanitizing and fumigating all its premises. In its bid to follow the mandatory COVID-19 protocol, the Corporation is also pursuing allย  SOPs issued by the tourism ministry. Madhya Pradesh Forest Department has also issued a circular informing re-opening of National Parks.

Additional Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, Sonia Meena said that the first segment of the travellers is expected from within the state. Offering an assortment of attractions to the travellers, Madhya Pradesh has numerous wildlife hotspots encompassing 11 National Parks as well as 24 wildlife sanctuaries including Ratapani Wildlife Sanctuary and Chambal Ghadiyal Sanctuary.

The other iconic sites in the state include Khajuraho, Bhimbetka, and Sanchi. Madhya Pradesh is also known as the Tiger State of the country due to the maximum tiger count (526) in its forests. The state is also known for two Jyotirlingas– Mahakaleshwar and Omkareshwar.

It also boasts some beautiful architectural sites like Burhanpur, Bhopal, Gwalior and Mandu, and some water bodies including lndrasagar, Gandhi Sagar, Tawa and Bargi. The state also organizes cultural events like Khajuraho Dance Festival, Mandu Festival, Orchha Cultural Festival, Tansen Festival annually to promote its tourism destinations.
