Giving boost to Skill India Mission, Grameen Udyami Project Phase-II launched in Ranchi

For the sustainable and inclusive growth of tribal communities, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), together with Seva Bharti and Yuva Vikas Society, has launched second phase of Grameen Udyami Project in Ranchi. The project is being implemented by Yuva Vikas Society, through Seva Bharti Kendra situated in Ranchi.

NSDC is setting up labs and classrooms under Grameen Udyami Project to multiskill Indiaโ€™s youth. The initiative is aimed at imparting functional skills to them. The program was launched by union minister of tribal affairs Arjun Munda. The occasion was addressed virtually by Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State (MoS) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, and Bishweswar Tudu, MoS, Tribal Affairs and Jal Shakti.

A unique multiskilling project, Grameen Udyami is funded by NSDC. NSDC aims to train 450 tribal students in Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh. Overall the project is being implemented in six states including Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. The training will be provided for various skills and jobs like plumbing and masonry, 2-wheeler repair, farm mechanism and IT/ITES with e-Governance among others.
