Multi Model Logistics Park to be developed swiftly under Bharatmala Pariyojna

A tripartite agreement has been signed between Land Waterways Authority of India, National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) and Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) for swift development of modern Multi Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs). The MMLPs will be developed under Bharatmala Pariyojna across the country.

The scheme is aimed at centralising freit consolidation so that the logistics cost can be reduced from 14% to below 10% of the GDP. The agreement was signed in the presence of Minister of Shipping and Waterways, Ayush and Ports, Sarbananda Sonowal and Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari.

According to Nitin Gadkari, the MMLPs will provide seamless modal shift, MMLPs will make sure that cargo is shifted/ swapped/shifted to dedicated freight corridors. Sonowal added that MMLPs are designed to untie the cobweb of logistics movement and they will enliven the logistics sector to put the economy on high growth trajectory.

The MMLP project will focus on technology driven implementation to create a state-of-the-art freight management system. These projects will have many value added services including packaging, repackaging and labeling. All these facilities will be available in these projects.
