Govt issues Rs 2,200 crore for improvement in air quality in 15 states

The union government has released Rs. 2,200 crore to 15 states for the measures required for the
improvement of air quality in their cities. It’s the first installment of the amount released for this purpose and the amount is based on the recommended estimates of the 15th Finance Commission.

According to a tweet by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, it will help the states undertake air quality measures, besides the capacity building of the local bodies across various cities. Jharkhand, MP, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, UP, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, and Gujarat are among the beneficiary states.
