Govt launches 7 new internet exchanges to improvise broadband connectivity

Electronics and IT Ministry unveiled 7 new nodes of internet exchanges across various cities in Uttar Pradesh to improve the quality of broadband and internet services in the state as well as its adjoining areas. Targeted to bring about transformation in the lives of the citizens of UP, these new internet exchange nodes are meant to improve the internet ecosystem in the state.

Minister of State, Electronics & Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar while speaking in the event organised to mark the occasion in Agra, said the government has made big progress in making a difference in people’s lives through technology. The event also witnessed the launch of National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) across Varanasi, Meerut, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Lucknow and Prayagraj.

He added that every month two unicorns are being created thanks to the record FDI in India over the last one year. He said for the infrastructure of the internet, the internet exchanges have been launched. Internet exchanges will benefit the entire IT industry. The internet allowed the country to move on during the pandemic only due to the internet.
