The mega ₹30,213 crore initial public offering (IPO) of Jio Platforms Limited concluded its three-day bidding window on Friday, drawing strong demand across institutional investor categories. The public issue of the digital and telecom arm of Reliance Industries Limited opened for subscription on October 21 at a price band of ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 per share.
Consequently, the historic offering stands as the largest public issue in Indian capital markets history, surpassing previous mega-IPOs. Furthermore, unlike past large offerings executed as pure Offers for Sale (OFS), the entire ₹30,213 crore issue represents a fresh issue of shares to fund long-term balance sheet de-leveraging.

Institutional Demand Drives Bidding Momentum
During the three-day subscription period, Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) spearheaded overall demand, securing heavy oversubscription across their allocated quota. Non-Institutional Investors (NIIs) and retail individual investors also logged steady participation, filling their respective tranches.
Earlier in the week, the company raised ₹8,110 crore from global and domestic anchor investors on October 19. Major anchor participants included leading global sovereign wealth funds and domestic mutual fund houses.

Capital Deployment and Balance Sheet Impact
Meanwhile, the net proceeds from the fresh issue will substantially strengthen the company’s financial profile. Specifically, Jio Platforms plans to allocate approximately ₹27,500 crore to prepay or repay existing borrowings of its principal operating subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited.
Besides debt reduction, the remaining funds will support general corporate expenses. Therefore, lowering interest expenses will further improve operating margins and cash flow generation across its 5G and home broadband business verticals.
What Lies Ahead for Applicants
Following the closure of the bidding window, attention shifts to the share allotment and listing timeline. The registrar for the issue, KFin Technologies Limited, expects to finalise the share allotment on Monday, October 26, 2026.
Ultimately, successful applicants will see shares credited to their demat accounts by Tuesday, October 27. The stock is scheduled to make its trading debut on both the BSE and NSE on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
