Modi lays foundation of development works, inaugurates Shankaracharya’s statue at Kedarnath Dham

In a big boost to Kedarnath Dham, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the execution of various ongoing infrastructure works, besides laying foundation stones of various development projects at this most sacred pilgrimage centre of Lord Shiva. Visiting Kedarnath himself, Modi also inaugurated the statue and the Samadhi of Adi Sharnkaracharya at holy site.

While PM Modi offered prayers at Kedarnath temple, prayers and celebrations were held simultaneously at all the twelve Jyotirlingas and the four sacrad dhams of Hindus across the country along with the Kedarnath Dham event. Speaking on the occasion, the PM said the new facilities at Kedarnath Dham will ease the lives of devotees and allow them to fully immerse in the divine pilgrimage experience.

He said the damage caused by the floods at Kedarnath in 2013 has been unimaginable, however, due to the grace of Lord Kedar, he could be of help in those difficult times. He said the work on Chardham road project is going on at a fast pace. This project will connect the Chardham highways. He also informed a ropeway to make the darshan in Hemkund Sahib ji is also under way.

Meanwhile, various infrastructure projects including Ghats and Mandakini Retaining Wall Aasthapath, Tirth Purohit Houses, Garud Chatti bridge on river Mandakini, and Saraswati Retaining Wall Aasthapath at Kedarnath Dham have been completed.
