National Green Hydrogen Mission to achieve 5 million Metric Tonne capacity

National Green Hydrogen Mission has been approved by union cabinet. The mission with an investment outlay of Rs.19,744 crore is expected to develop green hydrogen production capacity of over 5 million Metric Tonne per annum by 2030 in addition to 125 GW associated renewable energy capacity addition in the country. It will also create over Six lakh jobs.

The Mission will also create demand and further export Green Hydrogen. It will also support pilot projects and under this mission green hydrogen hubs will be developed after identifying the utilisation of hydrogen.

In order to support establishment of the ecosystem for Green Hydrogen an enabling policy framework and a strong framework for regulations and standards will be developed. Moreover, a public-private partnership framework together with a skill development programme in coordinated manner will be undertaken.
