New speed record set by Paradip Port with handling 50 million Metric Tons of Cargo in the fastest time by it

Paradip Port, under the dynamic leadership and guidance of Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Port Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), achieved a remarkable milestone in the ongoing fiscal year. On August 8, 2023, the port proudly registered a record cargo throughput of 50.16 million metric tons (MMT), showcasing a significant 6.5% growth compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. This achievement is even more impressive as the port accomplished this feat in just 129 days, surpassing the previous year’s 140-day timeline.

In addition to this cargo handling achievement, the Paradip Port Authority (PPA) managed a record number of vessels, with 942 vessels handled during this period, surpassing the 812 vessels handled in the corresponding timeframe of the previous fiscal year.

P.L. Haranadh, Chairman of PPA, expressed his gratitude to Sarbananda Sonowal for his unwavering support, which enabled Paradip Port to turn a new chapter of success. Haranadh also took the opportunity to congratulate all stakeholders, including officers, employees, user industries, stevedores, steamer agents, trade unions, and PPP operators, for their continued faith in the port’s ability to serve them. This achievement sets a positive trajectory for Paradip Port, emphasizing a promising path forward.
