Nitin Gadkari Launches Rs 2,217 Crore Highway Projects in Uttarakhand

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, inaugurated eight National Highway projects totaling Rs 2,217 crore in Tanakpur, Uttarakhand. The ceremony, attended by Chief Minister  Pushkar Dhami, Union Minister of State  Ajay Bhatt,  Ajay Tamta, MPs, MLAs, and officials, marked a significant step towards improving the state’s infrastructure.

The projects include the widening of the Kathgodam to Nainital road with a 2-lane paved shoulder, enhancing connectivity to Nainital and the Manaskhand temples. The 4-lane widening of the Kashipur to Ramnagar road aims to facilitate tourist access to the Jim Corbett National Park and Manaskhand temples. Similarly, the 2-lane widening of the Kangarchina to Almora road will not only boost tourism to Bageshwar but also reduce travel time for visitors.

Furthermore, the 2-lane widening and rehabilitation of Kanda Marg from Udiyari Band on National Highway 309A will improve access to Bagnath and Baijnath temples in Bageshwar, enhancing the journey from Bageshwar to Pithoragarh in terms of safety and time efficiency.

In his address, Gadkari highlighted the government’s commitment to developing excellent infrastructure in Uttarakhand, including the construction of walls on the National Highway 87 extension for people’s safety. He also mentioned the ongoing repair work on two bridges over the Saryu and Gomdi rivers in Bageshwar district, costing Rs 5 crore. These projects aim to benefit both tourists and locals, making commuting easier and boosting the local economy while preserving the environment.

Gadkari praised the leadership of Prime Minister  Narendra Modi and Chief Minister  Pushkar Singh Dhami, affirming their commitment to Uttarakhand’s development.
